Home Heroes — The Game Effective date: 2026-06-04 Version 1.2

Note: This privacy policy is published in Finnish and English. In case of conflict between language versions, the Finnish version (privacy-policy-fi.md) prevails, unless mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

1. Overview

Home Heroes — The Game is a gamified household chores management app developed by NOX Visual Oy (hereafter "we" or "the app"). The app is designed for families: parents manage settings while children (primarily ages 5–12) use it to track daily tasks and earn rewards.

The most important thing, in plain language: All data the app stores stays on your own device. NOX Visual Oy does not receive, collect, transmit, store on its servers, or otherwise access any user data.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

What the app stores on the device

The app may store the following information only in your device's local storage (iOS Capacitor Preferences on native builds, localStorage on PWA/web builds):

• Child profile information: name, age, chosen character class, and game history (completed tasks, earned points, achievements, levels).
• Task settings: chores created or customized by the parent.
• Family settings: parental PIN code, family messages, reminders, and family goals.
• App preferences: sound settings and other user-selected options.

NOX Visual Oy does not receive, collect, transmit, store on its servers, or otherwise access this information. For Apple App Store privacy label purposes, the app does not collect data, because the data is not transmitted off the device to the developer or any third party.

Data the app does NOT process at all

The app does not request, use, send, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification numbers, addresses, or other official identifiers.
• Location data (GPS or other positioning).
• Photos, camera data, or microphone data.
• Contacts, calendar entries, or health data.
• Behavioral analytics or usage statistics.
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or other device identifiers.
• Cookies or tracking pixels.
• Payment information (subscription payment is handled by Apple — see section 5).

No network calls to third parties

The app itself does not transmit user-entered data to Apple, Google, Anthropic, Meta, ad networks, or any other third party. Apple may process App Store, iOS, diagnostics, or crash-reporting information according to Apple's own terms and the user's device settings — this is outside our control.

3. How Data Is Used

Locally stored data is used solely to make the app function:

• Game progress: Completed tasks, XP points, achievements, and levels are saved so progress persists between sessions.
• Personalized settings: Family-created tasks, messages, and goals are stored for use on next launch.
• Security: The PIN code is stored only locally on the device. It is used solely to protect the parent settings area from children's access, and is not transmitted to NOX Visual Oy or any third party. The PIN is stored in plaintext in local storage, so the most reliable protection is keeping the PIN private from children and using the device's own lock.

Data is not used for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose other than enabling app functionality.

4. Data Retention

All data remains on the device for as long as the app is installed. When you delete the app, iOS automatically removes all associated locally stored data.

Data export and transfer

Parents can export all app data as a JSON file (Settings → Export and import data). The file is saved to the user's own control — to device files or a cloud service of the parent's choosing. The import function makes it possible to transfer data to another device.

If a parent exports data and saves or shares the exported file through iCloud Drive, another cloud service, email, AirDrop, or similar tools, those services are controlled by the user and are subject to their own terms and privacy practices. NOX Visual Oy does not receive or access exported files.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share data with anyone. Since all data is local to your device, we do not have access to it and cannot share it with any party.

Apple App Store and iOS

Downloading the app from the App Store and using it on an iOS device is subject to Apple's terms. Apple may collect certain usage data (such as crash reports and App Store metadata) according to its own privacy policies. We have no control over this. Our app does not use any third-party analytics SDKs, ad networks, or tracking.

Subscription purchase (Apple StoreKit)

Using the app requires a paid subscription, and the purchase happens entirely through Apple's StoreKit service. This means:

• Apple processes the data related to the purchase transaction (e.g. your Apple ID and payment details) under its own privacy policies — we do not see or store this data. Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
• The app only receives from Apple the subscription status (entitlement: whether a subscription is active, which product, when it expires). This is read on-device via StoreKit and stored only locally on your device (never on our servers).
• We do not use any third-party payment or subscription service (such as RevenueCat) — the purchase flows directly between Apple and your device.
• The subscription supports Apple Family Sharing; family group members' entitlement is determined according to Apple's terms.

6. Children's Privacy

The app is specifically designed for children, and we take children's privacy seriously.

GDPR (EU) — Children's data protection

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), processing personal data of children under 16 may require parental consent in certain cases. In our app, a child's name, age, and game history may be stored locally on the family's own device, but NOX Visual Oy does not receive or access this information at any point.

In practice this means:

• All app use occurs under parental supervision: the parent creates profiles, manages tasks, and sets the PIN code.
• Child data does not flow to our servers or to any third party.
• Children cannot access parent settings without the PIN code.

COPPA (USA) — Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

In the United States, COPPA protects the privacy of children under 13 in online services. Our app does not receive personal information of children under 13 (or anyone else), does not transmit data to our servers, and does not use data for commercial purposes. There are no social features, chat functions, or external links through which a child could reach third-party services.

Practical safeguards

• All child data is entered by the parent on the device.
• A child's name and age appear only on the family's own device.
• There is no way to communicate with other users.
• The app contains no links to external websites.

7. User Rights

The user is in control of the data

Because the app does not transmit personal data to NOX Visual Oy, we cannot in practice handle traditional GDPR requests (access, deletion, portability) other than by advising how the data can be reviewed, exported, or deleted within the app. All data is already in the user's own control on the user's own device.

In practice you can:

• Edit or delete profile data directly in the app (Settings view).
• Export all your data in JSON format (Settings → Export and import data).
• Delete all data by removing the app from your device — iOS deletes local data automatically.

8. Changes to This Policy

If changes are made to this privacy policy, we will publish an updated version on the App Store page and the app's privacy policy URL. The version number and date will be updated with each change.

Material changes are announced with the next app update. Minor clarifications are not separately announced.
